Handlers, Helpers, and Laborers for Los Alamos, NM.
SPECIFIC TASKS
The duties and responsibilities of a laborer are all geared toward maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient construction site while also supporting the overall project. The list of duties and responsibilities for a laborer on any given day shall include the following:
General Duties
- Following Daily Instruction with company Craftsmen Foremen and Superintendents
- Cleaning and preparing construction and work sites.
- Loading and unloading materials and equipment.
- Digging trenches, compacting earth, and backfilling holes.
- Grounds Maintenance
- Material Handling (Including Furniture and Fixtures).
- Asphalt Laborer (applying crack sealant, dumping, ironing, luting, shoveling, and spreading).
- Assisting skilled tradespeople in their duties.
- Landscaping and Planting.
- Removal and disposal of materials.
- Perform equipment inspections and minor repairs on a regular basis.
- Snow removal facility-wide
- Escorting Duties

- Green Cutter High-Pressure Air and Water Concrete Blaster.
- Sand/Water Blasters
- Air Track Driller Operator
- Pot Tender
- Form Handler
- Tree Faller
- Environmental Laborers (Asbestos, Hazardous Waste Lead, Radiation Worker II).
- Pest Control Technician (State Certified).
- Air, Gas, and Power Tool Operators (Including but not limited to; chain saw, chipping guns, cutting torches, jackhammers, weed eaters, and tampers)
- Concrete Cutter/Saw Operator (core/floor/wall saws)
- Aerial-Lift/Scissor-Lift Operator
- Pumping Sumps
- Applying Micro blaze, remediation of chemical spills
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications
- Ability to perform job hazard analysis and identify controls.
- Must have an understanding of work hazards and safety practices.
- Work experience in a quality-oriented environment requiring a high degree of attention to detail.
- Effective interpersonal skills (e.g., ability to work as part of a team, communicate effectively, work/interact effectively and amicably with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures).
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey thoughts clearly and concisely.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Follow safety guidelines, protocols, and OSHA Standards and requirements.
- Ability to lift heavy loads, work at heights and stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to comply with all company Policies and Procedures.
- Ability to complete area training to include unescorted access to Area G
- Pass medical, drug, and Government background check
- Valid driver’s license
- Must be able to complete all company-required training.
- Ability to adapt to different weather conditions and settings.
- Must be willing to work 4 10’s shift with possible overtime authorized by the Responsible Line Manager (RLM)
- Must be US Citizen.
Education Requirements
- This position requires a High School and 5 years of related experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.56 - $28.95 per hour
